<p>I managed to edit the XSLT in Sharepoint designer to truncate the text field of a Data View Web Part so that the main body of my News article is limited to 250 characters enabling me to create a web part for a home page using SharePoint Designer that only shows some of the body with a link to the full article at the end.</p>
